KAPTEN BATIK 'TOGETHER21'
Post on April 26, 2021 | SOGO Malaysia

Kapten Batik is the result of two passionate engineers-turned-fashion entrepreneurs with a desire to reintroduce batik as casual, everyday wear for men. Both founders Ekram Faiz and Farhan Omar are no strangers to challenges. They saw the gap in the Malaysian batik industry, which compelled them to change the perception of batik menswear in Malaysia.
In the light of current events, Kapten Batik chooses to celebrate the tenacity of humanity in facing these challenging times with its ‘TOGETHER21’ collection. The collection brings the beauty of juxtaposition, marrying vibrant and soft hued prints with modern and traditional elements. Versatility of the styles in the collection make it suited for both dressing up or down. The brand also earnestly takes comfort with the shirts being made of mostly mercerized cotton, Supima cotton and Primissima cotton which are suited for the Malaysian weather.
The collection includes four of Kapten Batik’s series:
● The Nusantara series — made of high quality machine printed batik.
● The Masterpiece series — uses traditional copper blocks and wax are used to create contemporary designs.
● The Maharaja series — a thousand-year-old traditional hand block printing technique using teak wood blocks.
● The Pure Linen series — the latest series release in the Kapten Batik label.

The Nusantara series gets a revamp with new in-house developed designs as well as an update in the fabric used. Only mercerized cotton which adheres to the global product testing system, OEKO-TEX’s Standard 100 certification is used. Ensuring that the garment fabric is free from harmful chemicals and substances. The Pure Linen series, the brand's long awaited resort collection, incorporates a dreamy mix of contemporary batik designs against soft pastel tones. Garments are designed with the modern fit in mind with pure linen from the finest European Linen Flax being used.
Kapten Batik is available at 3rd Floor Sports & Lifestyle Department, SOGO Kuala Lumpur.
